Withnail and I Nary on 20

2006-Sep-17 by Laughcalvin

One of my favorite, favorite films of all times is Bruce Robinson's Withnail and I. If you have never seen it, get it and join the cult. There is a game for the faithful wherein you drink whatever Withnail drinks throughout the course of the film. I DO NOT advise it for the sane of heart or lilly livered:

When asked about the films long lasting appeal, an older and wiser Bruce Robinson muses, "What I think it does do is touch that moment that we all had where we were all broke, all starving, all aspiring and all knowing that it might not work in our lives. For one of them it does not definitely and for one of them it might." He adds, "I really think audiences love good dialogue. Brilliant photography costs a lot more than crap photography, whereas good dialogue doesn't cost any more than bad dialogue, so even a cheap film can have great dialogue in it." Go here to read Camdentown's sit-down with Bruce and go here to hear clips of Bruce talking about the production. Sublime.
