Ms. Moore To The Rescue
2006-Aug-16 by Laughcalvin
We have all been here-there; to go on or no in this most precarious of endeavors, that being writing, filmmaking. It goes beyond doubt which is natural of course, but also into the deep reasons one even attempts it. I am reduced to idiocy on this so I will let Lorrie (whose talent makes it blindingly clear why she writes) say it:
A writer can’t control the reception of one’s work or the perception of its author—as much as one would like to. You just have to put on your helmet and boots and get out your pen. At some point, to some extent, what is both right and wrong with your work is what’s right and wrong with you. What is in it is what’s in you—and that’s if it’s going well.
Imagine if it's going horrible? Arrrhhhhhuaaauauhh..! Much better actually. (the beleiver)

So that's my problem- I've got to go get a writing helmet and boots.
That helmet comes in handy after polishing off that bottle of Beam.

The key phrase is 'what is right and wrong with you'...perhaps the beam has something to do with it..?

It's true that if you are a distracted individual your work will be distracted as well.
But what do you say about the writers who hit the sauce (or other things) and were awesome: Hemmingway, Bukowski, Burroughs, Mel Gibson... Were these guys lucky or were they inspired?

Talent is that elusive thing that either God or chaos theory chooses to bestow on some individuals whether they wear helmet and boots while downing Jim Beam by the bucket loads. I see mor e writers drinking because of lack of said talent.
