Wonder Twins Damon & Affleck Plan "Sundance Kid" Remake (God Help Us)! Newman Scoffs

That's right, the dynamic duo from Boston are planning to remake the classic film, which catapulted Robert Redford into superstardom and didn't do too shabby for Paul Newman's career either. Why did this film do so well? It had a well crafted script by William Goldman, superb cinematography, and an uncanny bond formed between Newman and Redford- maybe the quintessential buddy flick. It's regarded by many as one of the best westerns of all time.
Now back to BenjaMatt. Listen, like most I don't have a problem with Damon. He's a very capable actor having done very well for himself with the "Bourne" series who normally shuns the spotlight- opting to wed a very non-famous girl (although she's pretty darn hot). Affleck on the other hand. Do I have to even go here? Payback, Armageddon, Gigli, J-Lo... You get the point.
What's my point? Honestly, it doesn't really matter that I loathe Affleck as far as this stunt is concerned. I mean, let's say Giamatti decided to remake Citizen Kane, that would irk me as well (although possibly not quite as much). I just want to know: Is anything sacred anymore? This is a classic. Turning a piece of crap like Dukes of Hazzard into a film is fine- that's the type of frivolousness we expect from the studio system. But the gall to remake Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid? I'm flummoxed. And y'all should be to.
Newman's a little ticked. Can you blame him?

if you can pay, you can play. lets hope even less people see it than ben's other flops - then maybe it'll quietly go away, never to be remembered again.

I heard Reford and Newman were waiting for the right script to come along. Even old as Methusala, they should still wield some power over the Wall Street Hacks who run the studios.

-oh wait- it would have been difficult to survive that 2 on 40 firefight in Bolivia. Oh well.
