Burke on "Strong People"

2006-Apr-14 by Laughcalvin

Remember what "Brokeback Mountain" Scribe Larry McMurtry said about 'People in the world?' "There are strong people and there are weak people and if you are the latter then  your'ref***.." I paraphrase but you get the gist. The next time your Ungodly Stockbroker Realtive rolls out this Darwinian cream puff, roll out this quote from writer Kenneth Burke:

"The apparently weak are merely schooled to other strength and may be easily enduring hardships which are intense and even still unnamed, while the man who triumphs has done so by acting in accordance with other rules, like one who would win at tennis by shooting his opponent."

Then slosh more drink into your glass and storm off.
