We here at H.I.T. consider it one of our prime objective to bring you news on the latest in the world of indie filmmaking. One aspect of that filmmaking which is integral in separating the wheat from the chaff, is the film festival circuit.

Now we don't know what all the festivals are. Hell, there are so many it is impossible to keep track. Maybe we'll start one ourselves. You know what? I think we will: HITfest. We'll screen at one of the rundown movie houses in downtown L.A. OR our friend Bill's house (he's got a phat projector)...

Anyway, my point (besides the awesome festival idea)? Yeah... I remember. Sometimes we may not report on a festival right after it takes place because we are still learning which ones are out there. In point of fact: Cinequest 2006!

Take a look here at the program guide. A lot goes into the administering of these festivals- lots and lots of movie watching- mucho chaff to wade through I'm sure.

And the winners? Taking the Maverick Award, the most prestigious of Cinequest, was the Deutsche film, KussKuss.
