The Showbiz Gender Rift

2006-Mar-20 by Laughcalvin

Today I perused the "Movies by Women" site and found an intriguing study by Dr. Martha Lauzen, a professor in the San Diego St. school of communication.

Go take a look at what she found out.

It's hard to believe that in an industry that  prides itself in being ultra-liberal,  little equality  exists in the workplace. A whopping 61% of characters on TV were male over the 2004-2005 season, only about 1 in 10 directors were female, and directors of photography? Fughitaboutit! Only 2%- unbelievable.

Do women have little desire to find employment in certain areas or are they steered away from those areas?
