A Little Rant by KYJoe:
Man o man. I just took a look at the box office numbers for the weekend. V for Vendetta finished in the top spot, but take a look at the next 2:
| V for Vendetta | $26.1M | $26.1M | |
| Failure to Launch | $15.8M | $48.5M | |
| The Shaggy Dog | $13.6M | $35.9M | |
| She's the Man | $11M | $11M | |
| The Hills Have Eyes | $8.05M | $28.8M | |
| 16 Blocks | $4.74M | $30.2M | |
| Eight Below | $4.19M | $73.1M | |
| Madea's Family Reunion | $3M | $60.1M | |
| The Pink Panther | $2.5M | $78.6M | |
| Aquamarine | $2.02M | $15.7M |
Now I'm not even going to get started on Failure to Launch. I mean, loudmouth Terry Bradshaw has an important rolein the film if that tells you something.
I just wanna say something here about the latest offering from Disney and co. Now I know there's not necessarily a lot of family fare to choose from these days, but the Shaggy Dog for Pete's sakes! Are you kidding me?!?! This movie was horrible the first 2 times Disney did it. In '50somethin with Fred MacMurray (who redeems the rest of his forgettable career slightly for his turn in Double Indemnity) and '70somethin with Dean Jones (who was just plain bad). Now they have to dig it up from the grave again as a Tim Allen vehicle? C'mon. What? Allen's not making enough from Home Improvement syndication to afford to pay his bills? The only way to forgive this is if he's got to support a coke habit for his whole family.
That's all I'm gonna say here. I'm all riled up. Maybe I need a little Maker's to calm my nerves. Peace.

Hollywood continues to spew out the same crap. But what I can't understand is how the American movie-goer continues to subscribe to that crap.
Only occasionally does America give the consensus "That looks stupid, I'm gonna pass." The only thing recently that comes to mind for me is Stealth. I mean, Big Momma's House 2 had a huge opening.
