Around the Dial

2007-Nov-19 by Laughcalvin

Here we go again kiddos, the short week version.

-The IFP has a very cool catagory  "Best Film Not Playing at a Theater Near You," offering a prize recognizing films that have had solid play on the fest circuit but have not yet had major theatrical runs. Of course there are some good titles on the list.  Go here to check them out.

-You have probaly heard by now the WGA and the Producers (read: Conglomerates) will head back to the table on November 26 to hammer out their differences. Sounds great.

-After screening in over 40 international film festivals Alex Ferrari's twisted short film "Cyn" is finally available for rent or purchase though his website: (http://www.alittlecyn.com). You can now download his film along with tons of behind the scenes of the ground-breaking short film.

An excellent interview with the writer of "Before the Devil Knows You are Dead"  Kelly Masterson.

I was interested in characters who were driven by some sort of obsessive trait. I really had in mind that tragic notion of someone brought down by a flaw within themselves. I built into my three main characters various types of obsessions that they can't break away from even though they're doing remarkably stupid, hateful, and self-dooming things.
