Around the Dial

Brian Brooks of Indiewire has an excellent interview w/ filmmaker Guy Maddin on his latest "Brand Upon the Brain" which sounds excellent. Here he is speaking of areas of his filmmaking he wants to explore in the future:

On the creative side, I really want to make a movie that works like music. Of all the art forms, music takes the shortest route to the heart. I've known that a long time now and for the last few years have tried welding my images to good music so that everything in my films will be allowed that same shortcut the score gets to take. But now I realize I have to write stories that possess the logic of music. If the very essence of a story is to take that same shortcut, it must feel like music--instantly feel-able, no rationalizing necessary.

-Filed under yawn, it-happens-every-day-catagory. From a responsible Craigslist post:

Need PA to drive me to set Date: 2007-05-10, 12:31AM PDT I have a 3 am call and I'm way too drunk to drive. Can someone give me a ride from the westside to the Warner Lot? Can try to get you an internship or PA job on hit Fox episodic (not 24). Need to leave soon.

- The trailer for John Dahl's new film "You Kill Me" which stars Ben Kingsley, Tea Leoni, Phillip Baker Hall, Luke Wilson..The plot sounds pretty cool and of course they have a great cast.
