Jeffrey Wells has some good coverage of the Santa Barbara Film Fest. I was passing through on a trip back from the Sycamore Hot Springs at Avila beach, where I am told the great WC Fields would to soak his banged-up liver and beet-red nose. Most interesting was the premiere of Robert Towne's adaptation of John Fante's Ask the Dust. It's a great novel about a poor writer in Los Angeles in the 30's. It stars Colin Ferrel and Salma Hayec. Check it out.
