- Hilary Clinton "didn't stand outside the gates to David Geffen's mansion [last night], singing the Jennifer Hudson protest anthem 'And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going,'" writes N.Y. Times columnist Maureen Dowd. "But she's not exactly Little Miss Sunshine, either.

- Taro Goto interviews my current fave Japanese director Kiyoshi Kurosawa (Charisma, Pulse, etc.)on his favorite American Director Clint Eastwood. (BTW, Eastwood should take best director yet again on Sunday. Any takers?): "I think the greatest characteristic of Clint Eastwood’s films is that they revive the highly developed “form “ of early Hollywood cinema (say, from the 1940s) without ever relying on nostalgic elements. His talent is his firm conviction that cinema is storytelling as well as his confidence that with any story, however he tells it, he can capture the heart of the audience."

- What was it like as a Hollywood agent   with radical politics in the 50's? Clancy Sigal dishes up some fascinating Tinsel Town History in the Guardian: "At Jaffe, it was almost mandatory to begin our work day with Bloody Marys, and we kept on drinking through lunch at Romanoff's or the Brown Derby, until twilight when secretaries (our "girls") fanned out through the office to bring us cold dry martinis on silver trays to bolster us for those last-minute calls of the day.
