Sujewa is right. 06' is gonna be the year that Self-Distibution of Indie Film is gonna take off. The excellent writer and filmmaker David Lowery has Part II of his essay on Self-Distribution up now. For Indies, it is a must-read. My thought on Indie DIYD is this: It is like starting your own business and your success will depend on how much time and effort and HARD WORK you put into it. Both gents above lay out the ground-work for you so jump to it.

Well, D.I.Y.D. sounds like "died". Not bad for anti-cool cool points. On a more substantial note, if DIY distro does take off to an unprecedented degree this year, then we can look back & say that the old indie film model (make an indie film, hope it gets picked up by a distro-co) died this year, to be replaced by a new model: make an indie film, do distribution yourself (with selling the film to another distro co. always being an option, just like in the old days, but now no longer the only hope for salvation).
