After reading the following in Indiewire's xcellent wrap-up of Sundance, I wonder why I had to come back from the great city of San Francisco. Should have stayed there but that's another topic for another day:

Citing Dakota Fanning's controversial rape scene in "Hounddog," which premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival, the leader of North Carolina's state Senate Republicans wants to pass a bill that would require scripts to be reviewed by the government before production in N.C. begins. "Why should North Carolina taxpayers pay for something they find objectionable?" said Berger. The law would only apply to films that receive North Carolina's filmmaker incentive, which refunds as much as fifteen percent of what productions spend. StarNewsOnline reports.
